5th Grade Sports' Night

Our annual 5th Grade Sports' Night was held on Thursday, February 25th. Parents and students braved the snow to get to Washington Street School in order participate in the fun and challenging event. Special thanks to Mr. Boyle, Mr. Chhan and the 5th Grade Rep, Mrs. Adamo, for all of their hard work in making this evening so special.

"Souper Bowl" Recess

Students at Washington Street School celebrated the Super Bowl, while also helping to fight hunger. During the week, February 1st through February 5th, students donated cans of soup to Long Island Cares - The Harry Chapin Food Bank. Their donation entered them in a raffle to try to kick or throw a field goal, along with some very athletic teachers, at a special recess held on Friday, February 5th. Special thanks to Ms. Campagna, Mr. Soupios and Mr. Boyle, who helped organize the event.

"Operation Haiti" at WSS

How do you spell caring? At Washington Street School it is spelled . . . Operation Haiti! Sixth grade students in Ms. Mugno's class organized a Loose Change Fundraiser, working hard to collect donations for earthquake stricken Haiti. Students, staff, and families at WSS have been generously contributing to this worthy cause. We hope to reach our goal of $2500 by Friday, February 12th. All money collected will be donated to UNICEF to help children and their families during this crisis. Thank you to this generous community!
